Public hearings start for bushfire inquiry

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on the Environment and Energy will start public hearings for its inquiry into vegetation and land management relating to bushfires.

Its first hearing will be held in Canberra this Wednesday (February 12) with CSIRO representatives to discuss the science and research behind bushfire behaviour and mitigation activities, eg hazard reduction burning, clearing and land rehabilitation.

The ctee still welcomes public submissions to the inquiry, deadline March 31.

The ctee plans to hold public hearings at various locations, which will be announced on the inquiry website.
